Απο τον Μαιο του 2009 η Sheena Matheiken έχει δεσμευθεί να φοράει το ιδιο φόρεμα για ένα χρόνο ως μια άσκηση στην αειφόρο μοδα. Να πώς λειτουργεί: Υπάρχουν 7 πανομοιότυπα φορέματα, ένα για κάθε ημέρα της εβδομάδας. Κάθε μέρα το συνδυαζει με διαφορετικά αξεσουαρ: vintage, χειροποίητα ή φτιαγμενα από ανακυκλώσιμα υλικά. Έπειτα ποζάρει στο φακό και ανεβάζει τις φωτογραφίες.
Το The Uniform Project είναι επίσης χορηγος του ιδρύματος Akanksha το οποίο στηρίζει παιδια από τις παραγκουπόλεις της Ινδίας για να πάνε στο σχολείο. Στο τέλος του έτους, όλες οι συνεισφορές θα πάνε στο ίδρυμα για τη χρηματοδότηση στολών και για άλλες εκπαιδευτικές δαπάνες για τα παιδιά που ζουν σε παραγκουπόλεις Ινδίας.
Starting May 2009, Sheena Matheiken has pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion. Here’s how it works: There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day she reinvents the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments, the majority of which are vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies. Think of it as wearing a daily uniform with enough creative license to make it look like she just crawled out of the Marquis de Sade's boudoir.
The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums.
